Lee 'Sonnyboy' Morgan hails from the Gunditjmara Kirrae Whurrong clan, of South West Victoria, he has been back based in Warrnambool the past 3 years with a family of his own, after 20 years in Melbourne. Last year Lee recorded with Marcia Howard for her beautiful latest album and performed with her band for the release in Geelong, Melbourne and at Woodford Folk Festival 2018. Lee has performed both on stage and on countless albums as a guitar-gun for hire with some of Australia's most prominent and legendary artists. These include the likes of Shane Howard, Archie Roach, Jimmy Barns, Paul Kelly, the late great Ruby Hunter, Jessica Mauboy, Dean Geyer, Neil Murray, Wurampi Band, Midnight Oil, Dan Sultan, The Mary G Show, and the list goes on.
Lee is also a gifted songwriter, he writes and performs beautiful songs with passion and fire, telling stories from experience and knowledge, "Reconciliation Song" highlights the belief we all share the land we walk on, the story inspired by his indigenous grandfather, the late, and highly respected Banjo Clarke. Lee's own style is country/rock with strong clear vocals, he sings his heart out and keeps his guitar in good tune ,he is a knock down walls guitarist, he is a professional muso and a down to earth, friendly bloke, he gets on well with everyone, and has originals on albums and soundcloud, YouTube and triplejunearthed.
Off the stage and out of the studio, Lee has extensive experience in running his own writing workshops all across the country. Including schools, community events, and the prison system, sharing his love of song and the healing power of music.
