Songwriters Showcase 2019 - a review
South West Sounds Songwriters Showcase 2019
Melissa arrived at Seanchai Irish Bar in Warrnambool at 12pm to begin setting up her sound system, and many musicians turned up to help, Ben, Chris and Fiona, Shar and The Betty Band, all excited for the concert ! Josh the manager of the venue, was busy setting up the tables and chairs for guests to sit comfortably around the stage, and people turned up at 1.30pm as doors opened to buy tickets and settle in with their free wine to enjoy the concert. Fiona sighed relief that some people were arriving early , and as more people came, she took photos of the audience feeling very happy. (nothing worse than putting on an event and no one showing up !)
The day went smoothly, only a few minor sound hiccups, which is quite natural with changing over 10 acts, consisting of bands, solos, duos and trios, Melissa did a fabulous job sound engineering ! Russ was entertaining as usual as an MC introducing Artists, and a few questions about song writing styles, he encouraged people to listen when the singers sang, and chat in the set up breaks, which the respectful audience did quite naturally. It was wonderful for songwriter/performers to have an audience to be able to showcase their heartfelt and thoughtful songs to ! For some singers it was their first time to do this, and it gave them the confidence to go out and do it again !
A warm, family friendly, creative and down to earth feeling was felt, the Seanchai was the perfect venue to have this feeling in this inviting atmosphere, on an easy going Saturday afternoon, this was felt strongly by the beautiful feedback from guests and the musicians.
South West Sounds has made a compilation video, with one minute of all the 10 acts in the order, to remember for guests and performers, and for those who were unable to get there.
A huge and grateful thanks to all the performers , guests and the venue !
