Songwriters Showcase September 2022
Songwriters Showcase in 2022 was held at Dale Cleves Music Stage in Warrnambool last year on September the 3rd and was combined with a beyondblue fundraiser.
Gabby Steel headlined with a beautiful hour set of her originals with an acoustic guitar and stomp pedals. Telling stories about her songs and including the audience to sing a long with some of her well known and loved songs recognised by her appreciating music fans !Rise Above, Phoenix, Duo, Myles O’Flaherty and Fiona Honeyman, brought groovy original songs with acoustic guitars, and Myles changed over to drums for a final song with improvising lyrics and music feel styles from funk, to reggae to rock, with whole audience involvement on percussion !
Karryn Hiscock came over from Portland with her soulful Country Ballads and true stories woven into her beautiful songwriting, a real treat to our ears !
Mahda Greene- Moon came over from Koroit with his electric guitar and Rockin Songs and a big lovely voice singing his heartfelt originals , we all felt his passionate energy !
Mellofellow (Will Homan) original songs are a delightful mix of awesome musicianship, with a 60s-70s Rock and Folk-Psychedelic vibe, his distinctive voice was delightful to our ears !
Melody Greene , (now Alleyway Greene-Moon) enchanted us all with her first stage performance for a Songwriters Showcase, with her heartfelt lyrics and dynamic chord progressions very refreshing, so were her Choruses that stayed in your mind long after the concert !
Lynny Mast, opened the concert beautifully with her emotional, honest songwriting and soulful pretty voice , bringing us all gently to sing a long and feel her loving warmth for us all !
We thanked Ron at Dale Cleves for hosting our concert at the brilliant performance room at the back of his music shop, and to all the beautiful guests who attended and stayed the whole 4 hours and to our awesome MC Minami Deguchi . This may have been the last Songwriters Showcase organised by Fiona Honeyman (writing this blog) from VIC Indie Music in South West Victoria. It was a beautiful day and so good to catch up with everyone, and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere of appreciative listeners, tea and coffee and biscuits went down well too ! However after having organised these small yet important events since 2018 to 2022 (The Loft and Seanchai Irish Bar Concerts) annual each year (with the Covid-19 lockdown years missing) I am going to take a break in 2023 to pursue some of my own music goals heading over to Melbourne way. I wish every Songwriter-Musician that has been a big amazing part of these concerts all the very best with their music, to always keep enjoying the process and sharing inspiration to others ! Love In Music Fiona x
